Owing to its religious significance, Late Shri S.N.P. Punj developed a strong connection with Sitamarhi from his first visit. Having seen first-hand, the extent of the social and economic disadvantage facing people in the local area, he initiated the Dayawanti Punj Model School as a part of a larger village development programme to empower the Sitamarhi community, generation on generation.

Since 2002 the school has proven to be a successful example, creating a new culture of education in the village. The school’s biggest achievement, apart from its inspiring alumni, has been in creating an appreciation for high quality education. As a result of this, parents who may not have been exposed to, or not had access to even basic education are now seeking out quality education opportunities for their children.

With this success, we are continuously working towards realising the original vision of Late Shri S.N.P. Punj; to empower the whole community of Sitamarhi and its surrounding areas for generations to come.
